“The inauguration ceremony of the renovated UNESCO Executive Board session room

The inauguration ceremony of the renovated UNESCO Executive Board session room was held on October 12, 2015. The Republic of Azerbaijan along with other member states provided financial support for the renovation of this room.

The inauguration ceremony started with the presentation of the information plate in the entrance of the Executive Board session room. On the information plate along with other donors, the gratitude is also expressed to the Republic of Azerbaijan and to the First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for provided support.

Chairperson of the Executive Board, Ambassador Amr and the UNESCO Director General Mrs. Irina Bokova in their opening speeches thanked those Member States who supported the renovation of the Board session room, including the Republic of Azerbaijan and the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva.

Contributing States were also given the floor to make their statement. In our statement, Permanent Delegate of Azerbaijan Ambassador Anar Karimov emphasized the historical essence and symbolism of the one of the most remarkable rooms in UNESCO. He thanked the Director General and the Chairperson of the Executive Board for their assistance and efforts in realization of this project. It was also mentioned that the participation of our country in this project made possible due to the wholehearted support of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. The warm greetings and wishes of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva were delivered to the participants of this event. In the end, it was mentioned that Azerbaijan will continue its cooperation with UNESCO for the service of peace and international solidarity.

The participation of our country in this project is another proof of our high level cooperation with UNESCO and the important role of the First Lady, The Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva in this field should be mentioned.
