The 13th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions has started.

The 13th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions has been opened in Paris, at the UNESCO Headquarters.
Our country is represented by a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Culture.
At the session, the Committee will make decisions on the future activities for 2020-2021, capacity building, monitoring of the implementation of projects, funded by the International Fund for Cultural Diversity, etc.
The Committee will approve the new IFCD-funded projects under the 10th call for funding applications, and consider the potential joint activities with the conclusions of the Second Civil Society Forum and synergies with the 1980 Recommendation concerning the Status of the Artist.
A number of important cultural events will also be held during the session.
The Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay and filmmaker Naomi Kawase will reveal the names of 10 young African female filmmakers selected for the new UNESCO/Nara residency.
At the same time, there will be a debate called Create | 2030, to highlight the relations between the Committee's work and the Agenda for Sustainable Development by 2030.
These discussions will focus on the impact of the digital environment on access to the creative content and the results of the first projects funded by the International Fund for Cultural Diversity.
It is important to note that Azerbaijan has acceded to the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions in 2010. During the 7th session of the Parties of the Convention, from the Second Electoral Group our country was elected to the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions for 2019-2023.
The main function of the Intergovernmental Committee, which gathers representatives of the 24 member states to report meetings once a year, is to push for the implementation and promotion of the 2005 Convention.
