Victory Day is a holiday of national pride and dignity
November 8 – Victory Day was celebrated at our Permanent Delegation to UNESCO.
Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, Secretary General of the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Seymur Fataliyev, MP Soltan Mammadov, Permanent Delegate of Turkey to UNESCO, President of the 40th Session of the UNESCO General Conference Ambassador Altay Cengizer, Permanent Delegate of Azerbaijan to the UNESCO Ambassador Elman Abdullayev and diplomats of our Permanent Delegation attended the event.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov said that November 8 – Victory Day is a holiday of national pride as well as a celebration of the power of our people. He quoted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev from his speech in Shusha: "This is a holiday of Victory, a holiday of courage, a holiday of justice, a holiday of national pride, a holiday of national dignity".
Deputy FM said that under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our territorial integrity was restored in the 44-day Patriotic war. Recalling that brotherly Turkey has always stood by Azerbaijan during the war, E.Mammadov emphasized that from the first moments of the war, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as well as state and government officials, all Turkish people have shown the moral support to our country and have always stood by our people.
He honored the memory of our martyrs who died for the freedom of Azerbaijani lands. He congratulated Azerbaijan and Turkey on the Victory Day.
Turkey's Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Ambassador Altay Cengizer, said that Azerbaijan's victory is Turkey's victory. This victory is the joy of both nations. Respecting the memory of the Khojaly genocide, as well as the martyrs of the 1st and 2nd Karabakh wars, he said that Azerbaijan gained the great prestige in the world after the Patriotic War, showed its potential and played an important role in the international arena.
