UNESCO: At the meeting of the Culture Commission was discussed the work done in the field of creative industries in our country

The first meeting of the Cultural Commission was held in Paris as part of the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference.

Vasif Eyvazzadeh, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, chaired the meeting of the Commission, which was attended by UNESCO member states observers. During the meeting there were held the elections to the Bureau of the Commission. Representatives of Panama, Indonesia and Lesotho were elected as vice presidents. Chair of the meeting Vasif Eyvazzadeh noted that the documents adopted by consensus on the implementation of Resolution No. 43 of the 40th General Conference on Jerusalem and Resolution No. 67 on the situation of educational and cultural institutions in the occupied Arab territories are among the important issues of the Agenda. Afterwards he presented those documents to the Chief of the Cabinet of the Director-General of UNESCO, Nicolas Kassianides.

At the meeting, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for Culture Ernesto Ottone presented the Draft Program and Budget of the organization for 2022-2025. After the presentation of the main cultural program of UNESCO for the next year, representatives of 50 member countries made a speech and congratulated the Azerbaijani representative on his election as chair.

Most member states welcomed UNESCO's emphasis on the development of creative industries. The Second Secretary of the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO Nahid Omarov stressed the importance of protection of cultural heritage, issue on the illicit trafficking in cultural property and development of creative industries for our country. He noted that in this context, we support the current program and budget document.
