Azerbaijan was elected to the position of vice-chair of the UNESCO Committee
On December 15, 2022, the 17th Meeting of the Committee for protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict began its work at the UNESCO Headquarters.
Azerbaijan is represented at the session by the Permanent Delegation of our country to UNESCO and the State Service for Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On the opening day of the session, the issue of forming the Committee's Bureau was discussed. According to the unanimously adopted decision, Azerbaijan was elected to the position of vice-chair of the Committee.
During the session, which will last for 2 days, the report of the work carried out by the Secretariat in the direction of cultural heritage protection will be heard, the synergy of the 1954 Hague Convention and its 2 Protocols with other UNESCO Conventions, the mobilization of resources related to the implementation of the Convention and a number of other important issues will be discussed.
