National Music Day was celebrated in Paris

September 18 – National Music Day was celebrated in Paris on the initiative and organization of the Permanent Delegation of Azerbaijan to UNESCO. September 18 is also the 136th anniversary of the great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov.

The virtual concert organized at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Paris featured the music of Uzeyir Hajibeyov, the founder of the first opera in the East.

At the virtual concert, which began with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, pianist Etibar Asadli performed "Girls' Choir" from the operetta "Arshin mal alan", "Arazbari", music from the operetta "O olmasin bu olsun" (lit. “If not that one, then this one”), as well as the masterpieces “Sənsiz” (lit. "Without You") and “Sevgili canan” (lit. "Beloved") from the poems of the great thinker and poet Nizami Ganjavi.

Known as a great composer and music theorist, Uzeyir Hajibeyov managed to teach music in our country, to study classical and folk music, to reveal its artistic features, to create various music groups.

It should be noted that Maestro Niyazi laid the foundation of the tradition of celebrating Uzeyir Hajibeyov's birthday by organizing concerts every year after his death.

By the Decree of the National leader Heydar Aliyev, Uzeyir Hajibeyov's birthday – September 18 is the National Music Day in Azerbaijan.

The concert was posted on the official YouTube page of the Permanent Delegation and shared with the Permanent Delegations of all countries accredited to UNESCO.
